| The
Rarest Diamonds in the World are Pink Diamonds.
Why
are pink diamonds so small yet so expensive?
Pink
diamonds are the world's rarest and highly
sought after diamonds. The Argyle Diamond
Mine in Australia is the world's foremost
source of pink diamonds but even then only
30 to 40 stones over 75 point intense pink
are found each year. Pink diamonds are expensive
because they are scarce. They are found
in a variety of sizes however; private tender
at the exclusive Pink Diamond Tender, which
is held every year, sells the larger gems.
They have been known to fetch up to $1 million
per carat.

We only
sell natural pink diamonds. Diamonds can
be irradiated to produce fancy colours.
To change the colour they are subjected
to radiation, if you would like to check
if a stone has been irradiated it is quite
simple, you do not need any special equipment
just fine an old negative and put the diamond
on a black section, leave it there for a
short time 2 to 60 seconds say then move
the diamond if there is a white mark where
the diamond was it has been irradiated.
Make sure the diamond is in contact with
the film. We do not sell irradiated stone
only natural certificated stones. Coloured
diamonds that have been coloured by irradiation
are very cheap compared to natural pink
or coloured diamonds. The pink diamond colour
is created through structural pressures
and temperatures exerted on carbon molecules
during diamond formation up to three billion
years ago

We have
a decent range of pink diamonds from the
Argyle mine in Australia. If you would like
to know more on how they are formed please
look at the 4cs. We have traded these diamonds
to dealers in New York Paris London. We
always try to have quite a nice range of
smaller light pinks in stock. Unfortunately
because of the rarity of these stones we
always have a waiting list for certain stones.
Pink diamonds are not like any other diamond
or precious stone. But they act like sapphires
and other precious stones in some ways.
With a light pink diamond the colour will
wash out in intense sunshine and daylight.
But then when you are out in a restaurant
the diamond will look nicely pink and different
shades from different angles. The next step
up from light pink is Fancy light pink which
is a slightly darker pink this will also
wash out in intense sunshine and daylight.
Every coloured stone washes out to a degree
in daylight. The colours of the rainbow
are in these diamonds Orange pink purplish
pink brownie pink etc.
But
they are all stunning it is combining the
very best say light pink sapphire colour
with the fire of a diamond. Beautiful.
